Assumption of the Blessed Virgin mary
the Feast of the Assumption is a holyday of obligation. Masses
will be Thursday evening, August 14, at 7:00 p.m. and Friday,
August 15, at 8:00 a.m.
Virtus training at St. Michael
All volunteers who work with children or vulnerable adults are
required to complete a Virtus training session. Sessions will
be offered at St. Michael on August 20, and September 17, 2008,
6:00-9:00 p.m. in Archangels Hall. Register on line at www.virtus.org.
sign-up for children's choir
Registration has begun for both the children and youth choirs.
Joyful Light Children's Choir is for children
in grades 2-4. Radiant Light Youth Choir is
for children in grades 5-8. Registration is $35 per child. Forms
and calendars are available in the church narthex and the Parish
Office. Registration deadline is August 29.
Altar servers going to the twins game
St. Michael Altar Servers are invited to a Twins Baseball Game
on Saturday, September 6. Call Dave Orham (447-8827) if you would
like to join in the fun. This FREE event is sponsored by the
Knights of Columbus.

needed for chimbote
The school supply sales will be in the stores very soon. When you are shopping,
plan to pick up a few items for the school children at our sister parish school.

Boxes for your donations can be found in the church entrances.
faith formation registration dates set
Registration dates for the 2008-09 school year are set:
August 16 & 17 and August 23 & 24 - following the weekend Masses
in Archangels Hall.
August 20 & 27 (Wednesdays) in the School multi-purpose room from
6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Please check your calendar and plan to register at one of these times.

St. Michael celebrates
100 years
A centennial celebration Mass is being planned for Sunday, September
28, 2008, to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of our Parish. Plan
to join us at the 10:30 a.m. Mass that weekend. More information
to follow.
A brief story about the beginnings of this parish
was written by Jim Conroy. Jim's father was one of the men who
helped move the original church building from the north side
of Spring Lake across Prior Lake to Duluth Avenue. Read Jim's

Fr. Francis Roach grew up in this parish. He remembers our first
pastor, Fr. John Deere. He shares a few memories here.
Centennial COOKBOOKs
are available
The St. Michael Centennial Cook Book is available and may be purchased at
the Parish Office,r School Office and Angels N' Things Gift Shop for $15 each.
They contain over 600 recipes submitted by the best cooks in Prior Lake and the
surrounding area. The cookbooks will also be sold at many parish functions.

St. Michael school Registration
2008-2009
Registration is still open for 2008-2009. St. Michael School
is fully accredited by the Minnesota non-Public Schools Academic
Association and offers: a Catholic faith-based learning environment,
academically challenging curriculum, small class sizes and much,

Eucharist for the homebound
If you or someone you know is homebound and unable to attend Mass,
but would like to receive the Holy Eucharist, please contact

arrangements.

The centennial logo has been unveiled leading up to the St. Michael
Parish Centenniel Celebration next year, 2008. The Centenniel Committee
has been meeting and planning for the year long celebration. History
facts have been appearing in our bulletin to
help us learn more about our parish beginnings.
