Program Philosophy

  • The aim of Call to Faith is to form children into disciples who act with the mind and heart of Jesus.
  • Catechesis is a lifelong process. We are touched and transformed by the living God and by the lived Tradition of the community throughout our lives.
  • The whole parish community (including parents, family members, catechists, and pastor) is called to hand on the faith through faith sharing and the witness of daily life.

Sacramental Preparation

At the Church of St. Michael, children in the second grade are invited to begin formal preparation to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation (Penance/Confession) and Eucharist (Communion) for the first time. The Faith Formation Program coordinates the preparation of children in both the St. Michael Faith Formation program and at St. Michael Catholic School.

Curriculum: Celebrating our Faith (textbook) materials are taught each week in the St. Michael Faith Formation and St. Michael Catholic School classrooms. Celebrating our Faith materials also involve parents intimately in the preparation of their children. These are grace-filled opportunities to catechize adults as well as children!

First Reconciliation will be celebrated communally with individual confession and absolution on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 4:00 p.m.,  in the Church.
