Cursillo

Cursillo is a Spanish word meaning “a short course in Christianity.” It begins with a three-day experience in making Christ the center of one’s life. It is designed for people who have a desire to grow spiritually.

Cursillo is an international organization that is recognized by the Catholic Church. Cursillo started in Spain in the 1940’s. The founders were dedicated to helping Catholics know Christ better. The intention then and now is to give the laity a renewed spirituality and a clearer understanding of how Christ can work through us.

It begins with a weekend that starts on Thursday evening and ends on Sunday afternoon.  The format of the weekend involves a series of talks, prayer, Masses, group discussion, and quiet time. The cost is $25 per person or $50 per couple.  If you are married, both you and your spouse should be willing to attend a weekend.

To attend a Cursillo weekend, you must have a sponsor. A sponsor is someone from the Cursillo community who is currently active. Your sponsor will prepare you for the weekend, help you fill out  the application, bring you to and from the weekend and serve as a support system for your family while you are away. They also continue to support you after the weekend. Below is a list of people who would be available to be a sponsor and answer any questions you may have.
